Information we use

When you register, we store your email address, display name, a securely hashed password when you use one, and your account preferences. If you choose Google or Apple sign-in, we receive the account identifier, verified email address and any name you authorize that provider to share. We do not receive your Google or Apple password.

We store online games, moves, clock outcomes, ratings, training progress and reviews to provide the service. Display names, ratings and game moves are visible to opponents and to people with a game link. Your email, password and private training records are not shown to opponents. Guest online play uses a temporary account identifier. Local practice and board preferences are stored on your device.

Our hosting, security and email services process connection details such as IP addresses, request times, technical errors and message delivery events. Support messages, fair play reports and blocking preferences are used to answer requests and investigate abuse.

Payments

When subscriptions are available, Stripe processes web payments. Apple and Google process purchases made through their stores. We receive transaction identifiers and subscription status to provide paid access; we do not store full payment-card numbers. During the web beta, Plus training is included and we do not collect payment.

Why we process information

We use information to deliver requested games and account features, keep the service secure, recover accounts, administer subscriptions and meet applicable legal obligations. Where applicable, our legal bases are providing the service you request, legitimate interests in security and reliability, legal obligations, and consent for optional features. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

Services that help us operate

ChessReign uses OVHcloud for hosting, Cloudflare for DNS, delivery and security, and Nyza Mail with Amazon Web Services for account and support email. Google and Apple are involved when you choose their sign-in or store services, and Stripe handles web billing when enabled. Service providers receive information needed for their functions. Information may be processed in the United States and other locations where these providers operate.

Cookies and local storage

An essential, secure session cookie keeps you signed in. Browser storage remembers your board settings, local practice and training progress. We do not use advertising cookies in the web beta. You can clear browser storage or sign out; clearing it removes device-only saves.

Retention and deletion

Account information and saved progress remain while you use the account. You can delete your account in Settings or follow the account deletion instructions. Deletion removes your email, password, sign-in sessions, training progress and reviews. An anonymous record of completed games remains for your opponents. Limited billing, security and abuse records may be retained when needed for legal compliance, fraud prevention or resolving disputes. Operational backups expire according to the backup retention schedule and are not used to restore deleted accounts into active service.

Your rights

You can edit your display name, export your account data and delete your account in Settings. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to access, correct, restrict, object to or request erasure of information, withdraw consent, or complain to your local privacy authority. Email us for help; we may verify that the request concerns your account before responding.

Children

ChessReign accounts are intended for people aged 13 and older, or the higher age required for independent consent in your location. If you believe a child has provided information without the required consent, contact us so we can investigate and remove it.

Changes

We update this policy when our practices change. The effective date above identifies the current version. We provide notice of material changes where required.
